Support While Still Staying Safe

Happy June! Summer is upon us and, though it hasn’t started how it usually does, things are beginning to progress and transition into a new realm we are more “used” to seeing. With this, the impact of COVID-19 has caused a lot of changes for many small businesses across the world. Though things are beginning to open back up and the “stay at home” orders are beginning to be lifted, there are still a lot of adaptations that had to be made to make this possible, to continue to limit the spread of the virus and keep us safe.

We are very lucky that, in the Flint community, businesses that were forced to close or work remotely are able to start coming back and operating their normal hours. Places like the Flint Farmers’ Market are beginning to run trials of normal business hours, they were used to before the start of the virus, but with some limitations in place. Many have begun to adapt by limiting the quantity of people who are able to enter their businesses once, encouraging customers to maintain social distance by standing/sitting at least 6 feet apart, as well as asking them to wear masks to further help prevent any spread of germs to keep their facility as clean as possible. Other places, such as our home at the Ferris Wheel, have also taken many precautions to again help keep things as sanitary as possible. Inducing new cleaning procedures, eliminating community water jugs, and implementing hand sanitizing stations across the building are all ways they are able to help us, and our neighbors Foster Coffee Company and FlintPrints, open back up while staying safe.

We are happy things are beginning to transition and small businesses are able to run their services again. We highly encourage everyone to support these businesses when you can and are comfortable to do so, and show the love and support we all have for what they bring to our community. It is important we put in these efforts to help them recover from this hardship we all faced, but also remembering it is still not 100% over. Follow the precautions and safety measures set in place, while still enjoying yourselves and awesome places in our community.

Cheers to summer, moving forward, and growing toward positive changes!
