Expanding Your Social Presence

Happy start to summer! As the days are warmer, longer, and more individuals are out and about, this may be a great time to maximize on the engagement within your business. But where do you start? How do you do so? Many of us turn to marketing to gain interest, mainly across social media platforms. Social media can be a daunting task and, for someone just starting out, it can be hard to know where to even begin or gain that interest. As Marketing Specialist at 100K Ideas, I have had to work through these challenges time and time again, but thankfully I have been able to test the waters and see what works to help build a following.

Here are some useful tips or tricks you can use as you start to build your social presence:

Consistency is Key
One of the hardest, but most rewarding ways to build an audience on social media is consistency. Keeping up on posts, posting regularly, and getting content out there is always going to help you gain new people to your following. It may be tedious and some posts may not do very well, but getting consistent content out there will really help spread your word and allow you to slowly build.
TIP: Planning your social posts out a month ahead of time is super helpful in achieving consistency. It allows you a plan, a goal, and gets you ahead of the game, maximizing your time and energy as you build your platforms.

Finding your Audience
All three of these things can be immense to the success of your social media channels. As a business, you may have already spent time figuring out who the target audience is for your products/services. Do the same for your socials! This will help you create content that actually appeals to your potential customers and gain their interest in what you have to offer to them. This will also help you build a proper niche and style, which we will discuss in the next section.
TIP: Research other similar accounts, businesses, and brands to yours and see what they are doing! Do your research and see what is successful, and what’s not successful, and use that info as you curate your content. Always remember to do your own thing and make your brand your own unique self, but pulling in elements that you have seen be successful with similar audiences to yours can be a great move.

Build a Personal Niche/Style
Find what makes you unique! As you find the styles and content that works, build out posts that fulfill these aspects, but add the touches that make you different. Use the research you did to pull impactful elements that show success, but twist them into the work you want to show, making it something strong to your business.
TIP: This is where personal branding is important and comes into play, as this is a great way to differentiate from your competitors. Coming up with a solid brand and set of colors, fonts, graphics, logos, etc. is major in building a style unique to you.

These three steps are great factors to consider as you begin to grow your social media presence. Remember that social media is tricky for everyone and something all businesses are continuing to work at, learn from, and expand, no matter their size. Let’s start building a strong foundation this summer and help you get your presence known!
